Local community

Moor Cottage Veterinary Hospital works at special charity rates with a number of local charities and organisations to help support the good work that they do.

Pine Ridge Dog Sanctuary

This local charity in Ascot helps unwanted dogs to find new homes. We help by routinely neutering and vaccinating the dogs as well as giving any treatment that may be necessary for an individual before they are re-homed.

Cats Protection - Reading (East), Wokingham & Bracknell

Again we help with their neutering and vaccination programmes as well as micro-chipping for the local Cats Protection. Sick and injured cats that are cared for by local fosterers are also treated here. Thames Valley Animal Welfare

TVAW is a small local charity that specialises in the rescue of abandoned, stray and unwanted cats and kittens. Like CP they neuter all adult cats and provide veterinary treatment as needed.

RSPCA

We work alongside the RSPCA to improve standards of animal welfare locally. In addition to looking after stray and cruelty cases we take part in their voucher schemes for neutering cats and dogs.

Berkshire Search and Rescue Dogs

BSARD is a volunteer search dog group on call 24/7 that assists the emergency services in locating lost or missing persons. To help support this charity we offer discounts on all our services for the working dogs.

In addition to our work with these charities we also try to support the community in a number of ways. We keep our advertising local wherever possible in school and church magazines/programmes. We also make regular visits to schools to talk about the work of a vet and responsible pet care and we take along a cat and a tortoise for interactive sessions!

Finally we are currently supporting a local football team, the U16 Sandhurst Sirens by sponsoring their kit.

Visits to our hospital by individuals or groups can be arranged – if you are interested then please give us a call.

School visits

We regularly visit local schools and nurseries to talk about the work of vets and vet nurses. We have fun dressing up a couple of volunteer children as vets, show how we examine an animal and then let the children meet the animal(s). Do let us know if you would like a "vet/vet nurse visit" and we can arrange a mutually convenient time to your school.
