A lot of time and thought have been put into the redevelopment of Moor Cottage. Input from staff, professional bodies and most importantly our clients has lead us to our final outcome – a hospital status building providing an ideal environment for client, pet and staff.
Unless you’ve visited your pet in the Hospital, you will not necessarily have been aware or seen how much Moor Cottage and its facilities extend beyond the front of house. From what you see in the “front”, stepping into the “back” has been likened to stepping into the Tardis!
As a registered client, or just someone who is interested, we are more than happy for you to come and see. If you would like a guided tour, please let us know. Some of the areas are highlighted in the photographs on this web-site adjacent to the relevant information.
Some areas of interest that we can show you:
- Pharmacy area –the wide range of drugs we need are kept close to hand and available off the shelf. Even rarities which may only be needed once a year for that unusual condition or emergency e.g. poisoning, severe eye trauma, snake bite, not just the routines!
- Laboratory – fully equipped allowing rapid in-house testing of samples including blood and urine as well as microscopy to identify lumps and certain disease-causing organisms.. As much as possible is done on site so that we can inform our clients quickly and instigate appropriate treatment as soon as possible.
- Instrument cleaning & sterility – reducing the risk of contamination and infection during surgery by effective sterilising and storage of the instruments used. (MRSA and other infections)
- Prep area & Theatre – a great deal goes on in these areas with a vast amount of specialist equipment. Meticulous organisation is present for the ultimate well being and care of our patients.
- X-ray and Imaging Room – ‘blacked out’ area allowing clear visualisation of X-ray pictures and ultrasound imaging and studies.
- Hospital wards – separate dog and cat wards to ensure each individual is as comfortable and stress-free as possible. (see Hospitalisation)
- Equipment and Instruments – the range and levels of equipment needed to offer full first opinion work, particularly to the level of care we subscribe to, is extensive.
In case you missed some of the front of house features!
- Safe off-road client car-park.
- Press button front doors – making access easier when carrying a pet in a basket or looking after your dog and pushing a buggy or arriving in a wheelchair.
- SEPARATE CAT AND DOG WAITING ROOMS
- Large open reception area with cat basket ‘parking area’ on the reception desk – keeping our feline furry friends away from the noses of their canine colleagues!
- Fully Air Conditioned
- Plenty of seating and space for client and pets alike.
- Natural light in all areas including each consultation room.
- Children’s area
- Views to wildlife garden
